The film explores from different perspectives what it means to be a man today. What role models do men grow up with? What defines male social status? From an early age, boys are socialized within their families, kindergartens, and primary schools. The people caring for children in kindergartens are predominantly women, with men accounting for just two percent of educators. The situation is similar in primary schools. What role models do young boys look up to? Why are there so few male educators and teachers in our childcare and education system?
How have these gender roles evolved historically and sociologically? What traces have thousands of years of patriarchy, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the Nazi era left on our society? Failure is not supposed to be part of a man's life story. Men rarely talk about their feelings. For men, the rule still seems to be: endure, be brave, never give up. This is also how they face crises.
