This documentary portrays life at the Frienerhof, an organic farm at the foot of the Dachstein massif. Here, on a picturesque plateau at an altitude of 1,100 meters, Georg and Claudia Berger live and work, managing the farm in its ninth generation.
The Frienerhof stands for sustainable living and organic farming in practice. With 21 hectares of grassland and 40 hectares of forest, the Bergers cultivate their land in harmony with nature. In summer, their Brown Swiss cattle graze peacefully on lush meadows, while in winter the farm transforms into a cozy inn, treating hikers and cross-country skiers to regional specialties. Through their initiative “frienerforfuture,” the Berger family sends a strong message in favor of environmental protection and self-sufficiency. A photovoltaic system and a wood-chip heating plant provide the farm with energy. The Bergers combine tradition with innovation to secure the future of the farm and pass on a healthy environment to the next generation. With loving attention to detail, this production offers an authentic glimpse into life at the Frienerhof—a place where a close connection to nature and farming heritage remain very much alive.
