“Steiermark – Verbunden über alle Grenzen”, the fifth episode of the Universum History contemporary history series Our Austria, focuses on the border region between Southern Styria and Lower Styria, known as “Štajerska”. It is a unique cultural landscape that has preserved its “Styrian” identity across national borders. This is all the more remarkable given that dramatic events throughout history sought to drive the region in the opposite direction, leaving it in a state of dangerous tension for almost a century. Nowhere is this history more tangible than at the Serschenhof estate of the Tertinjek family. Their extraordinary story is told by Gernot Lercher in his documentary.
