When people think of St. Anton, Zürs, or Lech, they think of skiing. The region in the far west of Tyrol is also considered the cradle of alpine skiing. The magnificent mountain world, stretching like a seal of quality across the landscape and almost touching the sky with its picturesque peaks, quickly became an international winter sports paradise and Austria’s heart of winter tourism.
He is a chronicler of change. He has witnessed and shaped the rise of his homeland and of alpine skiing, taught royalty and film stars how to carve turns, and left ski tracks in the snow of the Arlberg alongside illustrious guests—tracks that soon transformed his home into “white gold.” Ferdl Nöbl, the 84-year-old ski whisperer and celebrity ski instructor from St. Anton, takes us on a life journey full of remarkable stories and events, meaningful encounters, and lasting friendships.
