Film mosaic by Regina Strassegger about Joseph Baron von Hammer-Purgstall, the Orientalist, court interpreter, diplomat, writer and founder of the Academy of Sciences, who was born in Graz in 1774. He was a great, though largely forgotten, figure in the intellectual and cultural history of East-West relations in the late 18th and 19th centuries. His story is juxtaposed with the fate of a young Palestinian who came to Austria shortly before the outbreak of the Lebanon War in 2006.
