Police station commander Franziska Heilmayr is under pressure. She still cannot bring herself to come out as bisexual to her conservative family and openly stand by her partner Svetlana. And now Svetlana’s brother has been arrested. Former drug addict Roland is the prime suspect in the murder of a high-end escort in Zell am See.
After several personal setbacks, Roland has only recently managed to get his life back on track. The single father lovingly cares for his young daughter, Mia. At Svetlana’s request, Franziska begins interfering in the investigation – much to the displeasure of the lead detective. That detective is none other than her old acquaintance, Martin Merana. Gradually, Franziska wins him over, and together they start asking uncomfortable questions in the tourist town – making enemies along the way.
Soon, they have a possible suspect in their sights, but the man has influential friends. Getting close to him proves anything but easy, yet Martin and Franziska refuse to give up. They have no idea that they are uncovering a conspiracy that reaches all the way into government circles. At the same time, Franziska’s relationship is becoming increasingly strained because she still cannot bring herself to publicly acknowledge Svetlana. She finds herself sitting on several powder kegs at once.
