The Arlberg is the epitome of winter idyll—and the birthplace of alpine skiing. But the famous ski region that connects Tyrol and Vorarlberg is much more than that.
For 100 years now, the Arlberg has been a tourist destination, yet it is also home to a breathtaking variety of orchids, large populations of ibex and red deer, and an almost uncountable number of marmots. In winter, large parts of the region are inaccessible to people, while in summer, hikers have the trails and the animals have the rest of the landscape.
