Kaethe Kruse’s exceptional life story is an impressive example of how one’s ideas and goals can be achieved through strong-will and creativity.

Raised in poverty, Kaethe later lives in a scandalous free union with famous sculptor Max Kruse. As a result of necessity  Kaethe invents a doll unlike anything seen before – soft, warm and heavy. A child for children. A meteoric career follows. Her handmade dolls become an international top-seller, but a top toy producer began copying Kaethe’s dolls and selling theirs significally below the market price. Kaethe, one of Germany’s first female entrepreneurs, is forced to fight for her sought-after dolls and the chances are not good. During her time toys were not considered protected under copyright law. In a spectacular civil action that stretches over seven years, Kaethe tries to save the original authorship of  her dolls and her company.
